Two men set out with horses and a wagon (back in the old days) to cross a hill and reach a mill, intending to grind grain for bread during the night. They had to go at night because they worked in the fields during the day and had no other time. They started out after midnight; the horses had been moving normally until they reached the hill, but suddenly they froze in their tracks, sweating profusely and foaming at the mouth. The wagon became incredibly heavy, as if they were hauling a tank. Suddenly, a dog appeared, barking and trying to drag the sacks of grain off the wagon. One man led the horses while the other chased the dog away to keep it from toppling the sacks. When he tried to lift a sack, it was so heavy that even the two of them together could not hoist it back onto the wagon. They had barely covered a kilometer of the journey when dawn began to break and roosters started to crow. Only then were they able to continue normally, and the dog vanished instantly. They never went to the mill at night again.
