I heard a story that somewhere in the South of Serbia near us, girls used to appear on the river at night to bathe. When a passer-by happened to be there, he couldn’t resist them, so he started bathing with them. There were actually evil fairies that appeared near the whirlpool, but they enchanted the man, he got carried away and drowned in the whirlpool. The next day, they find him dead somewhere nearby.
