For the beginning of our Halloween season and the opening (in our house and the blog), we welcome this movie. We recently had a discussion on Bloody Disgusting, and user Orwellianson suggested this movie to me, he claims it’s much better than any previous Resident Evil movie, and since I value his opinion, I decided to watch it with my wife at the cinema last night because it coincided with the opening of our season. And we were not disappointed, the man was right.

The plot of the film follows Brian the courier who happens to be in the hospital and receives a job to deliver a package to Raccoon City. It’s winter outside, it’s snowing, it’s cold and he goes over the hill, through a snowy road where visibility is poor and it’s slippery, and there he has an accident and hits a woman. So the policeman stopped him, and the policeman and his wife got into a car, and Brian was behind them. There the policeman has an accident, his car overturns and it turns out that the woman is infected and has gone wild.

Brian shoots her with a gun and runs to a nearby house. And there is chaos because he finds infected people and mutants, and from there he runs all the way to the tunnel. And there are monsters there, so he meets the employees of the corporation who lead him to the city, so there is a chase and various monsters in the city and below it until the main building where the climax of the action takes place.

The monsters are very well done, there are quite a few types, and even some classic running zombies. There is some monster that connects with other dead bodies and builds into a big monster with many attachments. There’s a mutant dog, there’s an acid-vomiting monster, baby mutants, you name it. In the whole film there is a chase, tension, there are also a couple of scares, scary scenes that are unpredictable.

I didn’t really like the scene in the room with scientists, because scientists should be more serious people and not fools like some high school kids who play games, it could have been much better in my opinion. And I’m not a fan of some comedy elements in the movie. Some are good and some are not, but unless it is an horror comedy, I prefer more serious tone in horrors.

Austin Abrams plays Brian, praise to him, the man did a great job. This movie is very good, better than other Resident Evil movies, it’s totally different, and worth watching, director Zach Cregger did a good job. I gave the movie an 8/10 rating.
And the night before, our godmother Marija Mančić watched that movie in the same cinema and here’s what she said shortly:
It is very good. I watched it last night in Delta. I really like the beginning and the snow and the house.
