Season of the Witch (2011) movie comment

Rating: 8/10 from me

Season of the Witch from 2011 starring Nicolas Cage is not a bad movie. There is plenty of action and some horror in this movie, as well as various monsters. The Middle Ages, the witch trials, hanging some witches… The witch comes to life already at the beginning of the film. On the other hand, Nicolas Cage and his friend (Ron Perlman), are fighting for the crusaders, they are fed up with killing and fighting, and they run away.

They are caught somewhere, where the local elder (the legendary Christopher Lee) recognizes them as baptists and sends them on a mission to transport a woman who was suspected of being a witch to a monastery to be tried there and destroyed so that her spells disappear because she has infected everyone with the plague. They set off, and all sorts of things happen there, chases, diseases, wolf attacks, passing through a burning bridge.

Later, it turns out that it is not a witch, but a demon, and a very powerful one at that, so the battle with the demon and zombies begins. Good story, plot and effects. I like the way they did the demon, just the way it is with the wings, with effects. Good team of actors as well. Nicolas Cage, Ron Perlman, Claire Foy and Stephen Graham did good job here. There is also legendary Christopher Lee as well. Some of the filming locations are in Austria, in the Alps; there are great scenes there—mountain scenery and forests.
